Ron Burgundy plays his Jazz Flute again!

Before I start today's blog I want to apologize for not posting last Friday's blog. I have been sick since last Wednesday and Friday I could barley do anything. I'm getting better and should be over this cold soon. I will try and see if I can post it sometime this week and I will let you know when I do. With that over with lets get into today's post.

The Box Office Results from last Weekend:
  1. The Hunger Games
  2. Wrath of the Titans
  3. Mirror Mirror
  4. 21 Jump Street
  5. Dr. Seuss' The Lorax
Now to the movie news for the week:
  • More Set Pictures for the Les Misérables movie have been released. Check out Russell Crowe as French policeman Inspector Javert:

  • The Banner for Superman: Man of Steel has been released. Check it out below:
    Man of Steel Movie Banner

  • Ron Burgundy came onto Conan the other night to announce that Anchorman 2 is officially on! Don't believe me? Check it out below:

    I'm defiantly excited for this!
  • A sequel to the 1988 film Twins might be happening. Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito are rumored to return for the sequel with one extra person. Eddie Murphy is to play their long lost brother in the film. The film is to be called Triplets. If this happens to be real I think that this is a horrible idea for a movie. It has been 24 years since the first one and its kind of to late for a sequel.
  • Production for Dumb and Dumber 2 is to start later this year. Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels will be reprising their roles as Lloyd and Harry. As long as nothing drastic happen, I cant wait for more news about this. This could be a good movie.
  • The Trailer for the remake of Total Recall has been released. Check out the Awesomeness Below:

  • Rumor:  Taylor Lautner has been cast to play  Leonardo in the upcoming Live Action Ninja Turtles film. He seems to be a good actor, but I dont think this is a good career move for him.
  • Ashton Kutcher is set to play Steve Jobs in a biopic. I see him as being a young Steve Jobs, but he will have to change a lot to pull off the older Steve Jobs.
  • I was sent this video yesterday and I thought I should share it with you:

Thanks for reading today's post, as always leave a comment down below about anything or the question of the day, which is:

QOTD: What was the greatest April Fools prank you have ever done/seen?

Don Draper for President!!!

The Television news for the week:
  • Netflix is in talks with ABC to purchase The River. The River to me is a good show and I don't understand why the Paranormal Activity franchise is good, but not The River. I like that Netflix is trying to acquire shows that may otherwise not be released. With Netflix already bring Arrested Development back and taking over Terra Nova, this a good move for them. I hope the deal goes through.
  • The cost of Don Draper in today's society. This little info graphic about the famous Mad Men character and how much it would cost in today's world to still be the Don Draper from 1962. Check it out below:

  • More details about the Smallville Season 11 Comic book has been released. Here are some things you need to know about it:
    • There will be more Superman then Clark Kent
    • It will be kind of like Superman: Year One with the Smallville cast
    • Chloe and Oliver are married. they want to move to Star City, but cant because of something that happens in the first 12 weeks of their marriage. Maybe a Baby? Maybe more of saving the world?
    • Will have a lot of DC character guest stars just like the show had.
    • Comes out as a digital comic in April and in print in June
    • Here are the covers of the first 2 issues:
    • Issue #1:
      Smallville Season 11 - Issue 1
    • Issue #2
      Smallville Season 11 - Issue 2
  • A new trailer for Season 2 of Game of Thrones has been released. Check it out below:

They also released TV spots that wants fans to pledge their allegiance to their favorite noble house of Westeros. I would have posted them here, but there are 5 different TV spots and I didn't think you guys wanted a post filled with 6 videos and barley anything else. They are all on HBO's website if you want to see them.
Thanks for reading today's post, as always leave a comment down below about anything or the question of the day, which is:

QOTD: Which N
oble House of Westeros are you pledging your allegiance to?

Assassin’s Creed 3 has a Release Date!

The Video Game News for the week:
  • Rumor: The Xbox 720 might have a controller that is a cross between the Sony Vita and the Wii U controller. In other words it will probably be a touch screen remote.
  • Amnesia: The Dark Descent, the heart pounding fear based game, might have a sequel planned. On a  Frictional Games website http://nextfrictionalgame.com/ there is a picture that is actually a link. When you click on the picture it takes you too a Google map with a pin located somewhere in the United Kingdom. Which could suggest that the sequel takes place in in that location.
  • Rockstar Games is still debating on doing a sequel to the popular 1940's crime based video game, LA Noire. Gamers were hurt with the firsts announcement, when they were waiting for a Grand Theft Auto 4 sequel. But now that the sequel for that has been announced it means a new game could be a possibility.
  • A Superman game might be in production soon. Geoff Johns over at DC Comics is talking about finding a company like Rocksteady that could do an Superman game and do it well. Right now they do not want to give the game to Rocksteady since they have done Batman and have done it very well. If the game for the Amazing Spider-man movie is good enough, I think that Beenox would be a good candidate for this job. Or if  Remedy Entertainment is up for it I would love to see them take a whack at it!
    Geoff Johns Talks Superman Game
  • Assassin’s Creed 3 has a release date set for October 30, 2012. This will end the series and more rumors are out about where the final Chapter of Desmond Miles will take place. Some say during the American Revolution, some say in China, and some even say during the The Russian Revolution. The Developers have been working on this one game for 3 years and they are pushing it to get it done in the next 6 months. All I have to say is I can't wait. I'm new to the series, I just got the original for Christmas, so I have to catch up by the time this is released.

Clark Kent is Superman?! NO WAY!!!

The Television new for this week:
  • CW's Green Arrow series will be called Arrow. Writers and producers are calling the series edgy, provocative, and sophisticated. Its also planned to be not as much of a TV comic book like Smallville was. They are saying Oliver Queen is suppose to be like Jason Bourne/Rambo with arrows. If it is any good as they say it will be it may be worth a watch.
  • House is coming to an end soon. Season 8 will be its last season. Fans are being promised and Amazing Finally! I personally have not been following the show for sometime now. The show started to get repetitive and dragged on for too long. Though it is still sad to see it go of the air.
  • Remember how Smallville ended without you seeing Clack Kent wearing the Superman Suit. Well, the producers took that into consideration and are going to be releasing Smallville Season 11 as a comic book. It will pick up  six months after the TV series ended and will Follow Clark/Superman through his first year as Superman. The side character that will be in the comic are Oliver Queen/Green Arrow, Chloe Queen, Lois Lane, and Lex Luthor.  DC Entertainment are trying to have the first chapter ready to release online April 12 and a print to be released  May 16. A new Chapter will be released digitally each week and will release one month later as a psychical comic book. Here is a taste of what the comic will look like:
    smallville-season-11-cover
  • Community is coming back this spring and has a surprise ending to the season. According to Joel McHale a Male Character in the show will die at the end of the season, but it will not be one of the main Cast members. Now the only question is, who is going to die? Could it be Star-Burns? Could it be Leonard? Or could it be Magnitude aka the Pop Pop guy? And could this be the Series Finally? I guess we will just have to wait and find out.

Slappa da bass!

As I always on the Monday blog, I post the Weekend Box Office Results:
  1. Contraband
  2. Beauty and the Beast (3D)
  3. Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol
  4. Joyful Noise
  5. Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows
Now onto the news for this week:
  • J.J. Abrams had an interview this week to talk about Star Trek 2. In the interview he discussed how Star Trek 2 will be converted into 3D after the movie is complete. He says he did it this way to make have the look and feel of the first one. He also talks about people making fun of him for having the Lens Flares in the first film. In my opinion they made the film fell more like it was shot in Space. So far he is still doing the Lens Flares in the sequel.
  • Tom Hardy, you know the soon to be super famous movie star, will play Al Capone in the upcoming crime drama 'Cicero'.  For those who know there Al Capone history know that  Cicero, Illinois is where he set up his main headquarters of operation. After seeing Tom Hardy in Bronson it is a great roll for him to play.
  • Richard Schiff may be playing the Superman version of  Lucius Fox (from the recent Batman trilogy) in Superman: Man of Steel. He is set to play  Professor Emil Hamilton, but no word on what version he is going to play from the comic books. Like I said, he may be the  gadget supplier for Superman after Lex Luthor takes credit for his inventions and drives him insane.
  • Bruce Almighty 2 is now in development. No word yet on the plot or anything, except Jim Carrey is back. Also Dumb & Dumber 2 may still happen after almost 20 years.
  • Channing Tatum gets his butt kicked by Gina Carano in a 'Haywire' clip
  • A clip from 'Red Tails', a movie about the Tuskegee program during WWII.
  • Thor 2 Script Being changed by Robert Rodat, the screenwritter from  'Saving Private Ryan’. This could be good.
  • Pirates Of The Caribbean 5 is getting a rewrite, i'm still wondering why it is being made. I have  Pirates Of The Caribbean 4 on my iTunes, but I still have not watched it.
  • The Dark Knight Rises IMAX Tickets are already selling out, i'm still waiting to get some in my area.
  • Steven Spielberg is not Directing Jurassic Park 4. Rumors say that it will open a new trilogy in the series.
  • 'The Avenger' will be mostly from Captain America perspective. Makes sense to me, he just woke up in the future and doesn't know whats going on.
  • Josh Trank, the Director of the upcoming movie Chronicle may be directing the Fantastic 4 Reboot.
  • My Favorite Comedy Duo is getting back together to make another movie.  Paul Rudd and Jason Segel are back with  Judd Apatow for a 'Knocked Up'  spinoff. The movie is suppossed to be about Pete and Debbie (now close to their 40s) a few years after 'Knocked Up' and is called 'This is 40'. Megan Fox is also signed to star.
  • Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter Featurette

QOTD: Who is your favorite Comedy Duo?

Look, Up in the Sky!

The gaming news for today:
  • To the people that say PC gaming is dying or dead, you can go chock yourself with a wireless controller! PC gaming is still alive and kicking. This past week Steam, the PC digital distribution platform of games, just passed a huge mark. They had over 5 Million people logged into Steam and playing a game. I bet you can guess what game it was. Yep, Skyrim!
  • Well Factor 5 was working on a Man of Steel version of Batman: Arkham Asylum/Arkham City, but it was cancelled before anything could happen. They have released what some of the characters would look like. To me it would have been a decent game if it was any way like a superman version of Batman: Arkham City. I'll post a picture of what Superman would have look like at the bottom of the page.
  • If you are not watching CES, you should be. Sony announced a new portable platform called The  PlayStation Vita and man does it seem cool for a portable platform. Thats all i'm going to say now, but Friday will be my CES overview. I will be talking about everything I love seeing.
  • Activision has plans to release another Call of Duty game this year. From the domains they have registered many believe it to be Black Ops 2. Then again, they do own the domains for Black Ops 2 through 6. I don't think a dying series like Call of Duty can last that long. Just saying!

Thanks for reading today's post, as always leave a comment down below about anything or the question of the day, which is:

QOTD: Do you think they should make a Superman game like the most recent Batman games? Would it be as good?

Until Next Time,
The Pop Cult. Blogger.

P.S. Video game review will be up as soon as I finish watching Moneyball.
