Joss Whedon is the Man!

As always, the Weekend Box Office results from lat weekend:
  1. Marvel's The Avengers
  2. Dark Shadows
  3. Think Like a Man
  4. The Hunger Games
  5. The Lucky One
Now for the movie news for the week:
  • Ron Howard is still working to get the Dark Tower movie off the ground. After Universal Pictures dropped the trilogy and TV series, there has been a lack of new on the topic. Recently, Warner Bros. has said that they were interested in the project, but nothing has been set into stone yet. I still have hope that Ron Howard will make this happen.
  • Disney CEO Robert A. Iger has confirmed that The Avengers 2 is already in development. After the recent box office success, why wouldn't they. I feel that as long as Joss Whedon is involved in the movie, it is going to get amazing. Now people are wondering when the movie will hit theater. After recent movie announcements like Ant Man and the S.H.I.E.L.D. movie, the movie probably wont be release until 2015.
  • Marion Cotillard confronts the rumors abouth her character in The Dark Knight Rises. She states that her character, Miranda Tate is just a glorified love interest to Bruce Wayne. She also states that she will be playing the Talia al Ghul, just under a different name. She will have ties to the League of Shadows and Bane. She also falls in love with Batman and is on his side by the end of the movie.
  • Andre 3000 will be playing Jimi Hendrix in an upcoming biopic. The movie will be set between 1966 and 1967 and will be about the time Hendrix was discovered at a New York City club by the girlfriend of a the famous Rolling Stones guitarist  Linda Keith. The movie will not included any of Jimi Hendrix's music, but still could turn out well.
  • One of my Favorite parts of The Avengers:
  • Here is some back story of the Lizard and Dr. Curt Conners in The Amazing Spider-Man:

  • The new trailer releases for the week:
    • The Amazing Spider-Man:

    • Ben Affleck's Historical Thriller called Argo:

    • Gangster Squad:

    • The Campaign:

Nickelodeon creates a show for Moms

The late Television news for the week:
    • Ray Stevenson, Punisher: War Zone, will be in Season 7 of Dexter. He will play an Eastern European criminal who comes to town to find out who killed a member of his organization. So that probably mean that Ray will play the character that will be the main villain in Season 7. I believe fans will be happy just as long as it doesn't end up like a repeat of Season 5.
    • Nickelodeon is working on prime time programming for Moms. Now there can be many jokes made here, but lets not do that. It will be a late night set of shows that will include long and short humor shows, talk shows, stand-up, sketch comedy, and hidden camera shows. They are planning to launch the programming this fall under the name NickMom.
    • Disney has a new show coming out for their Disney XD block. TRON: Uprising will be the cartoon sequel for TRON: Legacy and will be contained in The Grid. It is mainly trying to get kids interested in the Tron series (so that the next movie makes a bigger bang.) It seems decent, but I really don't want to watch it. Check out a sneak peak below:

    • Netflix is trying to revive yet another fan favorite. They are working with CBS to get the rights for Jericho. If this does happen, then Netflix is getting smarter with targeting fan favorites like this. They bring in more subscribers and maybe get them to stay. I have almost finished re-watching Arrested Development on Netflix and I cant wait for the new season to be released. All I have to say is if Netflix still wants my business, keep reviving good shows. Maybe at one point they may even consider reviving Firefly.

The Hunger Games is still #1!

    The Weekend Box Office results:
    1. The Hunger Games
    2. The Three Stooges
    3. The Cabin in the Woods
    4. Titanic 3D
    5. American Reunion
The Movie news for the week:
    • Sir Ben Kingsley is set to play a villain in Iron Man 3. He will not be the main villain or the Mandarin like many people believed he would play. This would be yet another good role for him since he does well in the villainous roles in movies.
    • Here is a short film you may want to watch. It is really good for only being 5 minutes long. Check it out below:
    • The Avengers is already getting some good reviews from the early screenings of the movie. Here is some good stuff to get you even more hyped for the movie.
Here is a set visit video from Entertainment Tonight:

Here is a clip called Headcount:

Here is a clip with Captain America and Thor. They seem to be really starting to bond.

Those should hold you over a little longer.
    • Here is the trailer for the movie Looper I was talking about in last week's post:

    • Disney is officially eyeing the sequel for The Muppets to be released in 2013. It sounds good to me, but I am kind of sad that Jason Segel will not be back to co-write the sequel.
    • Paramount has set the release date for Darren Aronofsky’s Noah on March 28, 2014. The movie stars Russell Crowe as Noah and Liam Neeson as the villain.
    • Bill Murray has still not decided if he wants be in Ghostbusters 3 yet. There have been many reports that state he dislikes the idea of the movie and will not be in it. Recently  Bill has said the Ghostbusters 3 is not out of question yet. My hopes that he will come on and do the picture. I never experienced the movies in theater and would like to love this movie.

    MOVIE OVERLOAD!!!

As always, the Weekend Box Office results:
    1. Dr. Seuss' The Lorax
    2. John Carter
    3. Project X
    4. Silent House
    5. Act of Valor
The Movie news for this week:
    • The script for Bill and Ted 3 has been completed. It is said to be Excellent. Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves are back for the movie. Now the production has to wait to be green lighted.

    • The RobotCop reboot will be distributed by Sony, will be directed by José Padilha, and  Joel Kinnaman will play Officer Alex J. Murphy/RoboCop. Depending on what way they will be going with this reboot, it might end up being a good movie.

    • Josh Trank, Chronicle, is in talks with Sony about a Venom spin-off movie from the Spider-Man movies. My question is how this will effect The Amazing Spider-Man movie. Will it be the venom from Spider-Man 3 or will it be a part of The Amazing Spider-Man reboot? Also with Sony having Josh Trank rumored for the Fantastic 4 reboot, which project would they do first. So, until anything is set in stone I hope everything turns out right.

    • Epic Space map from Prometheus:
    • The Muppets DVD/Bluray release trailer is a spoof of the Hunger Games. Check it out below:
    • Etan Cohen, Men in Black 3, will make his directorial debut by working on Paramount’s Boy Scouts vs. Zombies. I have heard a few things about this movie and it seems like it could be a good movie. It sounds weird, but it is a horror comedy with Zombies and Boy Scouts.

    • The first image from Disney's Lone Ranger movie has been released. Yet another weird costume for Johnny Depp to wear. Check out the image below:

    • Max Landis, screen writer of Chronicle, is working on the sequel. No word yet if Josh Trank will be back to direct the sequel.

    • Joss Whedon is already talking about how he would approach Avengers 2. He would like to dive into the characters more and tell more of a story then Wow you with the bigger is better approach. If The Avengers is what it is hyped up to being, I wouldn't mind a sequel with Joss Whedon's name on it.  The Avengers will be the longest movie Marvel and  Joss Whedon has ever done. Originally the movie was over 3 hours long. After  Joss Whedon cut 45 minutes it is now a healthy 2 hours and 15 minutes.  Joss Whedon and Marvel are both happy with that.

    • Confirmed by Viacom: Mission Impossible 5 is on its way. No word yet on who will be back.

    • Arnold Schwarzenegger now has an Anthem. Check it out below:

This was tweeted to me and I thought I should post it. It was made by the same guy that did The Stallone song.

    • Stallone still wants to do a fifth installment to the Rambo franchise. He is talking about John Rambo fighting Mexican cartels. He also says that it will be like a rehash of the First Blood story. I think the franchise needs to be left as it is.

    • Rumor: Tron 3 is in development. I dont know if I am suppose to like this or not.
    • A new  featurette for The Hunger Games has been released. Check it out below:

      Big Giveaway Soon!

The Video Game news for the Week:
      • The Movie noobz is video game version of the movie Fanboys. It pokes fun at competitive gaming and looks kind of funny. Check out the trailer below:
      • BioShock Infinite now has a confirmed release date. The game will hit the North American shelves on October 16, 2012 and will hit Internationally October 19, 2012. Looks like it will be apart of the battle for Game of the Year.
      • Assassins Creed 3 will be set during the American Revolution and the game already sounds amazing. The game follows a new hero named Connor and he has an English father and Native American mother. The combat is completely brand new, that means nothing is copied from the old games. Targets are locked on automatically which helps with the game mechanics. Connor will be apart of the major battles. The world will change as time passes, which means you will get to see the cities change seasons. You can now leap over wagons and slide under obstacles. The game will also feature 2-4 player Online Co-op. Check out the teaser for the game below:
There are some screenshot and concept artwork that are now out, but there is not enough room to put them on this post. Here is a link to the screen shots and artwork:  Screenshots and Concept Artwork
      • Stan Lee confirms that he will be a playable character in the new Spider-Man game for the movie The Amazing Spider-Man. Don't believe me, hear it from the man himself:
      • Rumor: Valve is working on a next-gen console. Here is a patent for their console controller:
        Valve Controller Patent Application
      • Halo 4 Sneak Peak:

I feel the need...the need for speed!

As always, the Weekend Box Office results:
      1. Dr. Seuss' The Lorax
      2. Project X
      3. Act of Valor
      4. Safe House
      5. Tyler Perry's Good Deeds
The Movie news for this week:
      • Ryan Reynolds states that the Deadpool movie is in no way connected to X-Men Origins: Wolverine. I think that is the only way to make the movie turn out well. I am a huge Wolverine, the X-Men Origins: Wolverine movie butchered the character in my opinion. The  Deadpool movie will now have a chance to grow in it own story without a crossover.
      • Mike Tyson has confirmed that he will be in Hangover 3. I hope that the movie turns out better then the second otherwise this franchise will have to some to an end.
      • The 21 Jump Street movie is already getting a sequel. The movie is not even out in theaters yet, but I am guessing that they have high hopes for the movie. Hopefully this doesn't end up like Green Lantern.  21 Jump Street is to me released into theater on March 16th of this year.
      • A sequel for The Muppets is in the works. Disney is in talks with the Director and one of the writers to produce a sequel to The Muppets. As of right now Jason Segel is not listed to return. This is sad news to me, I thought that Jason Segel did a great job co-writing and starring in the film.
      • Peter Craig, the screenwriter of The Town, has officially been recruited to write the sequel for Paramount's Top Gun. From what I hear Tom Cruise will return with a new generation of Hot Shot Pilots.
      • A 10 Minute clip for John  Carter has been released online by Disney and shows us a little tease of what the movie has in-store for its audience. Check it out below:
