The Movie news for the week:

• During an interview with The Telegraph, Simon Pegg talks about Star Trek 2 and what to expect from his upcoming film The World’s End. He states that Benedict Cumberbatch's character in Star Trek 2 is not Khan! He also talks about his film The World’s End being about revolution and a little different then Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead.
• James Ward Bykrit and Alex Manugian, the guys that did Rango, are working on a Fraggle Rock movie.After 7 years of many people trying to attempt the movie, there seems to be actual progress. If you happen to not know what Fraggle Rock is then you are probably to young to know anything.  Fraggle Rock was a tv show about happy-go-lucky, colorful, cave-dwelling creatures with neighbors that include tiny green construction workers called Doozers and unfriendly, giant furry monsters known as Gorgs. The series came from  Jim Henson, so naturally they are all puppets. My only question is will it be with puppets or CGI?
• Here are some recent movie release dates that have been announced:
• Independence Day 3D and Lone Ranger will be released on July 3rd, 2013
• Thor 2 is to be released on November 8th, 2013
• Robopocalypse is to be released on April 25th, 2014
• Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (Sequel to Rise of the Planet of th Apes)  is to be released on  May 23rd, 2014
• X-Men: First Class 2 is to be released on  July 18th, 2014
• Some recent surprising news has been released about The Dark Knight Rises. David S. Goyer, co-writer of the Batman trilogy, has said that Warner Brothers had plans to add The Riddler to The Dark Knight Rises as the Villian. They also had a specific actor in mind to play him. They wanted  Leonardo DiCaprio to play The Riddler. I wonder how he would have been in that role. Also news is out that The Dark Knight Rises will be 2 hours and 45 minutes, which is 12 minutes longer then The Dark Knight.
• Guy Ritchie, the directer of the famous Sherlock Holmes films, has been recruited to direct an adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson’s Treasure Island. After his success of the Sherlock franchise, why would he not try and do it. They are trying to shot for something in the PG-13 range to catch the eyes of teens and twenty-something, just like Guy Ritchie did with the Sherlock Holmes films. This could be good.
• The Production still from Iron Man 3 has been released:   
  Just like they did for Iron Man 2, it shows the Hall of Armor.
  Here is some information on the characters of the film:
• Ben Kingsley is playing a villain role that is rumored to be The Mandarin (a background mastermind-type villain).
• Guy Pearce is playing Aldrich Killian, a geneticist who creates a nanotech weapon that transforms humans into cyborgs.
• Andy Lau is playing a scientist who aids Tony Stark.
• Rebecca Hall is the frontrunner to play a former science colleague of Tony’s who works with nanotechnology.
• James Badge Dale and Ashley Hamilton will likely play henchman villains transformed into cyborgs (or some kind of tech-threat).
• An armor design has been spotted on set, which suggests that either The Iron Patriot or Detriot Steel will be in the film.
• Here is James Badge Dale in The Iron Patriot/Detriot Steel armor:
  
  If you didnt know,  The Iron Patriot/Detriot Steel was worn by  Norman Osborn who was the leader of The Dark Avengers in the Ultimate Spider-Man Comic Books.

On to the Movie news for the week:

• There is a behind the scenes clip of The Avengers that is almost 20 minutes long. There is no dialog in the clip to keep from spoiling the movie. There is however some well chosen background music. Check out the clip below:
  
  
• There is a set photo from Star Trek 2 that hit the web. It shows Spock in his Volcanic suit and nothing more then that. Check it out below:
  
• The final posters for The Amazing Spider-Man have been released. They add a darker tone to the highly anticipated reboot. Check them out below:
  
• Universal Pictures has announced that they will be working on a big screen reboot of The Rockford Files. There has not been many details released, but they have signed Vince Vaughn to play Jim Rockford. This role was originally played by James Garner in the TV Show. This could be a very good move or a very bad movie. It all depends on how Universal and Vince approach the movie.
• There have been more behind the scenes images released of The Lone Ranger. They show Armie Hammer and Johnny Depp meeting with Navajo leaders. Check out the images below:
  
• If you are planning to go see The Avengers Opening Night like I am, you are going to get a special treat. Warner Brothers has announced that they will be releasing a new trailer for The Dark Knight Rises before The Avengers. Thats a big announcement since The Dark Knight Rises might end up being the Movie of the Year and hopefully the Greatest Movie of All Time! I will make sure to post the trailer on the following Monday for the movie blog.
• Guy Pearce has joined Iron Man 3 as Aldrich Killian, one of the creator of the Extremis technology. When the military pulls the funding for his project, Killian turns into a villain. The movie also has Ben Kingsley playing an undetermined villain. My guess still stand that he will play the Mandarin, even though Marvel still denies this.
• Another set photo from Les Misérables have been released. This one shows Anne Hathaway & Hugh Jackman and it looks like they are singing:
  
• Christopher Nolan says that over an hour of The Dark Knight Rises was shot in IMAX format. What does this mean you ask? This means that the movie will look better, feel real, and be a better movie. The IMAX shots in this movie are double the ones in The Dark Knight and Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol. I don't know about you, but I can't for the movie to hit theaters.

• As part of Sony's viral campaign for The Amazing Spider-man there is a new teaser for the movie. It features Captain Stacy as he talks about Spider-man and what he wants people to do if they see him. Check the video out below:
  
• Michael Bay responds to all the hate that the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot is getting. He tells fans to calm down and take a breath. He says that his team is working with the original creators of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles story. They are expanding the back story and help make it more complex. I honestly still dont like where this movie is going. Until something happens and they follow the original story, I will not be seeing this movie. Also the working title for the movie is Ninja Turtles.
  
  
• The first set picture from Les Misérables has been released. It shows us what Hugh Jackman will look like as Jean Valjean as he is released from or going into prison. Check it out below:
  
  
  
• Street artist Shepard Fairey and  Imagine Entertainment are teaming up to do a reboot of George Orwell’s 1984. If you dont know who Shepard Fairey is you have defiantly seen his work. He created the famous Barack Obama ‘HOPE’ poster for the 2008 presidential election.
• Just in case you are not hyped for The Avengers movie, Marvel has yet another featurette. Its shows the progression of how The Avengers movie was first talked about up to how it is being made. heck it out below:
